July 5th, 2019 MLB Betting Tips

We’re having a pretty successful week thus far with a win yesterday at SportsBettingTips, 2-1 on Wednesday and 3-1 on Monday/Tuesday at SBT.

Yesterday we took the Red Sox, who won, but my ticket was scratched as Marcus Stroman did not end up making the start as he had a pectoral injury. He is a guy that has been shrouded in trade rumors all season and that could be a big blow for him and his potential suitor.

We also took the Rangers over the Angels and this one came in easily. Griffin Canning gave up six runs and Lance Lynn continued his string of strong starts.

Note: All tips based on the starters mentioned at the time of this writing. If there is a late switch or the starter is wrong, please consider the tip null and void.

Milwaukee Brewers vs. Pittsburgh Pirates Betting Tips:

 TeamNameFIP-
AWAYBrewersZach Davies101
HOMEPiratesSteven Brault107

The Pirates are in the midst of some of their best baseball of the season. They are 10-4 over their past fourteen games and the bullpen and offense are both really clicking right now.

They will send Steven Brault to the mound today who is just alright. He has a 4.29 ERA/4.66 FIP, but he has been good at keeping the homeruns down. The Brewers offense has a 98 wRC+ against lefties on the season, but as a whole they are cold with a 78 wRC+ over the past two weeks. The Pirates bullpen is doing very well of late so if Brault can get through five or six, I feel confident here.

Zach Davies has a 3.24 ERA/4.50 FIP on the season so he has been a bit lucky. His strikeouts are minuscule which is always an issue to me and the Pirates offense is hot right now with a 126 wRC+ over the past two weeks. The Pirates are looking like the better team right now.

Oakland Athletics vs. Seattle Mariners Betting Tips:

 TeamNameFIP-
AWAYAthleticsBrett Anderson102
HOMEMarinersYusei Kikuchi121

Kikuchi’s first season in the US isn’t working out quite how he or the Mariners had hoped. He has a 5.12 ERA/5.47 FIP on the season and the home numbers are a big part of that. In Seattle, he has a 5.49 ERA/6.57 FIP. The Athletics are one of the better teams in the league against left handed pitchers so this could be a short night for him and a long night for the Mariners.

Oakland sends Brett Anderson who is fine with a 3.92 ERA/4.58 FIP, but much like Kikuchi he has performed better away from his home park. He has a 3.46 ERA/3.85 FIP in road starts.

The Mariners offense is a bit scary, but the Mariners bullpen is very hittable while the Athletics bullpen is one of the best out there. Should be an easy Athletics win.
